Behind on your power bill? Deposits, payment arrangements and shutoff notices

A large past-due balance or deposit demand is stressful. Before you agree to anything, make sure the bill is right.

Don’t ignore the notice

Contact your utility — SCE, PG&E or LADWP — about the notice and your options. Payments and payment arrangements are handled directly with the utility.

Get the bill checked before you commit

A payment arrangement is an agreement to pay the balance as billed. If part of that balance was charged wrong, you want to know before you agree to it. Balances over $100,000 qualify for our review.

Deposits

A deposit is often around twice your highest monthly charge — a large sum for a facility already paying $50,000 a month in power.

Already paid it?

Paid bills can still qualify for recovery as long as your account is active.

Tell us about the deadline

If a shutoff is pending, say so when you reach out. It changes how fast we move.
